Standing proudly along the historic streets of Lüderitz, Kreplin Haus is a remarkable reminder of the town's fascinating past. Built in 1909 as the home of Emil Kreplin, Lüderitz's first mayor and railway manager, this distinctive heritage house offers guests the opportunity to experience the character and history of one of Namibia's most intriguing coastal towns.
With its striking architecture, historic character and connection to Lüderitz's early diamond era, Kreplin Haus is more than a place to stay — it is part of the story of the town itself.
Declared a National Monument in 1983, the house forms part of Lüderitz's remarkable collection of historic buildings, where German architectural influences meet the rugged beauty of Namibia's Atlantic coast.
Heritage and diamonds
More than a century later, Kreplin Haus continues to tell the story of a town shaped by railway expansion, maritime trade, diamond discoveries and the people who helped establish Lüderitz as one of Namibia's most distinctive coastal settlements.
The house was designed by architect Friedrich Kramer and built as an elegant two-storey residence. Its distinctive position on the corner of Berg Street and its historic architecture make it one of the notable landmarks of Lüderitz's heritage landscape.

Kreplin Haus is situated on the corner of historic Diamantberg Street and Berg Street, surrounded by some of the town's most distinctive heritage buildings.
From this central location, guests can easily discover the architectural treasures of Lüderitz and venture further afield to some of the region's most iconic attractions, including Kolmanskop, Diaz Point and the rugged Atlantic coastline.

Experiences
The Skeleton Coast, notorious for its harsh conditions, has earned its name from the numerous shipwrecks, abandoned settlements, and animal remains scattered along its shores. Once feared by sailors, pilots, and travellers alike, this rugged coastline stands as a stark reminder of nature’s unforgiving power, with over 1,000 wrecks recorded and likely many more yet undiscovered.
Covering more than 16,845 square kilometres, Skeleton Coast National Park is a protected area with diverse ecosystems. Access is strictly controlled, only allowed for guests on organised tours with experienced guides or visitors staying at Shipwreck Lodge, ensuring the preservation of this remarkable and perilous landscape.
